Zibarelli Enzo e Maurizio
Sustainability and robotics applied to zootechnics
“The business was established in the 1950s by my father’s grandparents, who started out here with 16 cows.’ Today the farm has 370 animals, including 190 lactating cows, as well as 180 hectares of land for growing fodder used exclusively to feed the cattle.”
Along with his father Enzo and a few employees, Maurizio Zibarelli runs the family farm, producing milk to make Parmigiano Reggiano, setting great store by efficiency and the quality of the milk.
“I like animals; ever since I was a schoolboy, I used to come to the farm to spend time with them. In this job, I’ve learned that what you give the animals comes back to you.”
The hallmarks of the Zibarelli farm are the loyalty and honesty Maurizio learned from his father Enzo, together with a distinct inclination towards innovation. Maurizio is always seeking projects able to revolutionise his business, such as the application of robotics to zootechnics in order to boost efficiency and productivity, as well as reducing the labour required, or environmental sustainability projects able – thanks to the application of new technologies to agriculture – to drastically reduce the amount of water and energy wasted, with a view to safeguarding the environment and the climate.
There’s still a great deal to be done, and this spurs us on to do what we can!
