Società Agricola Fondo Predella

“My father bought this farming business in 1964, and over the years he expanded and improved it, building the new cowshed and a number of barns.”

Today Severi Ferrante and his daughter-in-law Natasha Giordano are at the helm of the family business, combining expertise and dedication with their love of animals. Azienda Agricola Fondo Pedrella has 63 milk cows, divided into two cowsheds and with an area for the animals to graze on the 300 hectares of land scattered around the hilly area of Selvapiana di Canossa. Complete dedication to the animals, close attention to their needs and daily contact with them: these are the most authentic, genuine aspects of the business “which I wouldn’t swap for any other in the world”.

Natasha and Ferrante take a smiling, easy-going approach to their work, which is fundamental for working with animals, as Natasha explains:

Animals can sense your mood. Even if you don’t say a word, they can tell if you’re nervous or agitated, and they react accordingly. If you’re relaxed, they sense that, and respond accordingly.”

This is a small business, but with big aspirations for the future, linked above all to increasing the number of animals and therefore the amount of milk produced, but also to a desire to contribute to training the new generations.

“My dream would be to have school groups visiting my farm, to show them what it’s like to work in the midst of nature, and how wonderful it is to have such close contact with the animals.”
